Montreal’s PARADISE (28 October 2026)
It’s my most favorite time of year!!! Y’all I LOVE LOVE LOVE Halloween!! You can be extra! Outrageous! Slutty! Weird! Silly! Literally anything you want and nobody cares. It’s the best. Hey, even if you want to reinvent yourself, then stay in character for the next 364 days until the next Halloween, you can do that too!
I’m trying to figure out my costume at the last minute, which is terrible but it’s also fun. One year, I was Akim from Coming to America, and people really thought I was a guy. I got so much extra respect and my pay shot up by 20%!! So cool!! (I’m being totally sarcastic BTW).
But for real there are a ton of parties and events if you’re into the spook of it all, but I’ll probably end up at the Casino like last year. Buy me a drink if you see me outside…

STAGED READING OF ‘THE OTHER SIDE OF THE GAME’
Black Theater Workshop and Concordia University have teamed up to bring us a staged reading of Amanda Parris’ debut play.
Winner of the 2019 Governor General's Literary Award for English-language Drama, this striking debut follows the lives of two Black women whose approach to social activism, motherhood, and partnerships hinges on a “Ride-Or-Die” philosophy. The play weaves back and forth between the 1970s, where Beverly joins a Black social justice organization, and present day, where Nicole reconnects with her habitually incarcerated ex-boyfriend. This play turns a spotlight on the often-overlooked contributions of, and toll on Black women, who are often the backbone of households and community organizations alike.
And before the play, you can join the pre-show conversation, which will be catered by Lloydie’s! IYKYK 🙂
