Forget The Box is Montreal’s most in-depth arts magazine, a community focused publication committed to covering local ground level, underground, and marginalized art.

Forget The Box Media is a federal not-for-profit organization dedicated to amplifying ground-level, underground, and marginalized voices through hyper-local arts journalism, event production, and accessible community workshops.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR - ANDREW JAMIESON
Andrew Jamieson is a Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice focuses on immersive storytelling experiences. He is the creator of Lethal and Young, Who’s Afraid, Bed of Nails, and MONUMENTUM. Andrew is also a performance and public speech coach.

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF - CANDICE ANN
Candice spends her days noticing the little things, dog-earing pages of her favourite books, and sipping iced vanilla lattes. A writer, artist, daydreamer, and emotional being, her greatest passion is the craft of beautiful words.

Dawn McSweeney is a mother, a novelist, a comedian, and essayist. Arts and community are priorities she holds dear, the webbing that keeps us in our humanity. She's been writing for Forget The Box since before it was cool.

Shireen Aamir (she/her) was raised in Lahore, Pakistan. She is a Montreal-based artist focusing on content creation and animation. She’s a foodie so if you swear by any amazing food spots around Montreal, she’s who you recommend them to.

FINANCIAL DIRECTOR - ASHLAN GREY
Ashlan Grey is an artist who brings his background in fundraising, management, and event production to the forefront of his work with Forget The Box. He’s driven by a belief that strong communities make strong art, and he’s happiest creating environments that help artists connect, collaborate, and thrive.

We acknowledge that Forget The Box is physically located, and covers art and culture upon, unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather today. Tiohtià:ke/Montréal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within the Montreal community.

Forget The Box (.net) was originally founded in 2009 by Jason C. McLean, Jerry Gabriel, Stephanie Laughlin, Chris Zacchia, and Laurence Tenenbaum. Conceived as "an independent media collective that strives to provide a forum for voices excluded from the mainstream media", Forget The Box (.net) closed in February 2023.
