Montreal’s PARADISE (7 October 2026)
I wanna say some things about the recent election, but I’m not from here so imma just mind my Ps & Qs (rimshot).
Anywhooo….Do you have any idea how sad and depressing it is to recommend things that I won’t be here to enjoy?!?! Like there’s a whole ass sign language cabaret and an incredible film about the 2024 eclipse that I will completely miss cuz I gotta go out of town for a few days!! Ugh. But you don’t have to miss out..I got you. See how I’m lowkey trying to get y’all to be more educated and and less ableist? Just doing my part, ho hum…
But I will be going to the fair at the Old Port when I get back. Crossing my fingers that they have funnel cake. If you’ve never had it, its basically like if you took pancake batter, squeezed it out of the business end of a cake decorating tool into a deep fryer full of oil, then put powdered sugar on it (after you rescue it from the deep fryer, of course). Ok that sounds gross but i SWEAR it is delicious! Hell I’ll even settle for a fried Oreo cookie. Yes, that’s a thing.
Well like I always say: get ur ass outside. Thanks.

LSQ EN CABARET
Ugh I’m so bummed that I won’t be here for this!! This is exactly the kind of theater that I would want to see as I know zero Quebec Sign Language (LSQ) signs. This event is hosted by Jean-François Joly and will bring together artists who highlight the diversity of the d/Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community. Artists who were born deaf, those who have become deaf later in life, artists with cochlear implant, and artists from different generations will share the stage. From magic to signed rap, along with other forms of performance, this evening showcases the vitality of artistic practices flourishing today in LSQ.
Conceived in LSQ, the cabaret is accessible to hearing audiences thanks to the presence of LSQ interpreters.

TOTALITY
I remember being obsessed with the 2024 solar eclipse and I spent the day watching it in Saint-Jean-Sur-Richilieu. If you didn’t get that experience, here’s your chance to live some of the excitement and wonder that surrounded that event.
Twenty-one film crews from Mexico to Canada capture the 2024 total solar eclipse, following several groups of people in preparation for this extraordinary event. This immersive cinematic experience, presented during the Festival du Nouveau Cinema, explores this magically cosmic spectacle and the collective human awakening it inspired. A film that invokes a profound sense of the sublime: a beauty so unimaginably distant yet deeply rooted in our shared humanity. Even Montréal gets a piece of the spotlight, featuring explorers from the Dorothy Project, local schoolchildren, and crowds gathered on Mount Royal during the unforgettable minutes of the eclipse. The filmmakers and numerous guests will be present and they’re throwing a free after party!
WHAT: Totality

WHEN: 9 October 2026 @ 8:45PM & 10 October 2026 @ 12PM
